Ideal for anglers and bird watchers is nearby Taverham Mill, which comprises 100-acres of forest and fenland, including four lakes, a stretch of the River Wensum with two small weir pools, great for fishing opportunities, designated walk ways and a visitor centre with fishing tackle shop. The vibrant city centre of Norwich, just 6 miles away, has excellent shopping, two shopping centres, theatre, cathedral, art galleries, castle museum, market square, leisure facilities, plenty of restaurants, pubs and cafés. There is a regular bus service to and from the city centre. The village centre is within walking distance, and has two pubs, shop, post office, golf course, snooker hall, Indian takeaway and access to Marriott’s Way walking/cycle path. The famous Norfolk Broads are within 30-minutes’ drive, and the North Norfolk Coast is 25 miles away for excellent sandy beaches, RSPB salt marsh and bird reserves, and the coastal path are all within an hour’s drive. Wroxham, known as the capital of the Norfolk Broads is 12 miles away, for riverside shops and restaurants, daily boat hire, river trips, train station and model village. Wroxham Barns, a few minutes’ drive from the village centre, has two restaurants and craft stalls. Enjoy a trip along the Bure Valley Steam Railway, a miniature gauge railway; the station is located opposite the mainline train station of Wroxham, visiting nearby Coltishall and onto the pretty market town of Aylsham.
