Loch Neaton and the Memorial Garden offer lovely green spaces that are perfect for relaxation in the summer months. Walkers will be delighted to find that Peddars Way runs through the Wayland area, and links with the Great Eastern Pingo Trail, with its pools dating back to the Ice Age. There are also numerous heritage trails with the Watton Heritage Trail, Wayland Wood Nature Trail or the Wayland Church Tour to enjoy. Nearby is Melsop Farm Park and Wayland Wood, now owned by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust, and home to a number of rare species. Those wishing to explore a little further afield will find Thetford Forest with High Lodge and GoApe within easy reach. Or, for a change of pace, the medieval city of Norwich with its magnificent Norman castle and numerous museums and attractions is within easy reach too. Those wishing to work up an appetite before sampling some of the town's eateries, will find the Norfolk coast within an hour's drive, with a range of pretty villages, all offering marshes, wide sandy beaches and quays.
